The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, in partnership with the Louisiana Division of the Arts and its 9 designated Regional Arts Councils, the First Foundation of Louisiana, and the Office of the Mayor/President of Baton Rouge, Parish of East Baton Rouge are gathering artists, arts administrators, board members, advocates, and public and private sector funders together to build stronger networks, share resources and ideas, so that, through the arts, we can build more vibrant and equitable regions, parishes and cities in Louisiana.

On July 24 – 26, 2018, the Arts Summit will take place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As the Capital City, Baton Rouge serves as the host venue for this three-day, multi-platform conference. Sessions will be led by a diverse line-up of arts and humanities leaders, innovators, community activists, and professional consultants, with participant involvement at every level so that artists and arts organizations are given every opportunity to share knowledge, question, advocate, and inspire.

The First Lady of Louisiana, Mayor-President of Baton Rouge, 2 national keynotes, a pre-conference, and more than 15 sessions, with recommended tracks for individual artists and arts organizations, the Arts Summit 2018’s theme, I AM THE BIG IDEA will revolve around the following core themes:

  • The Balance of Making Art and Running a Business: How to balance the administrative work so that room for inspiration and creation can meaningfully exist?
  •  Communicating Our Value: How can we more effectively communicate through marketing, advocacy, public support and policy, the value of the arts in our communities and strengthen investment from other sectors?
  • Equity and Engagement: How can we revise our policies and practices to be truly equitable and engage the full breadth of our communities?
  • Development (Including and Beyond Grant-making): What tools, models, and strategies do we need to fund arts businesses, organizations, projects and initiatives?
  • Cross-Sector and Community Partnerships: How do we create and grow successful cross-sector and community partnerships?

Join individuals and organizations in arts business, education, cultural diversity, community development and more to learn from one another and create positive change.
