A free screening of the Emmy-award documentary film Herblock: The Black and the White will be aired in the historic House of Representatives. The film covers the life’s work of artist Herb Block, with editorial drawings covering WWII to Watergate to Monica Lewinski and everything in between. Commentary with Tom Brokaw, John Stewart, Ted Koppel, and many more appear in a film that also includes a mind-blowing twist that adds even more to the legacy of this editorial artist. This film is being shown in conjunction with our current exhibition of editorial cartoons called "Lines with Power and Purpose" which features over 50 original drawings from the golden age of print journalism. The exhibit and programs inspired by it explore the rights guaranteed in the First Amendment, Freedom of Speech and Freedom of the Press.
