"Everything is abstract..."
Dean Dablow muses in his writings about the way we interpret and remember the objects that surround us. In this exhibition, "Some Assembly Required", the artist challenges us to a visual experience devoid of reference to other objects.
"The paintings have evolved into more painterly abstraction suggesting an atmosphere by building up layers of paint to reveal underlying color. I want the paintings to be seen simply as objects rather than windows to any referenced reality. They only define themselves without regard to subject matter. I think of these paintings as objects of silent reflection, mystical, and metaphysical. Don’t try to find hidden meaning. There is none except for the visual experience."
The exhibition will be on view for the whole month of March, 2018. The Firehouse gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, and on Saturdays from 10:00am to 6:00pm. The artist will be present for a reception on Saturday, March 10th, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. This exhibition is free and open to the public.
