Create U is a new Professional Development webinar series for artists and arts organizations in the 11-parish

region in which the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge serves. Each month participants can look forward to

a new and exciting speaker, whose goal is to help you expand your professional skills and knowledge.

Tax season is upon us! But never fear! We've got a brand new Webinar for you just in time to help you get those forms in order! 

Presenter Ralph Stephens will walk us through taxes as they relate to artists. Sales tax, property tax, income tax, payroll tax and self-employment tax. We'll touch on reporting requirements for all these taxes, how they are calculated and ways to plan to help reduce the tax burden. We will also talk about the new tax act and how things have changed as a result.

Ralph Stephens is an attorney as well as a CPA. He has have been with Postlethwaite & Netterville (P&N) since 1981 after practicing law for a short period of time. He is a Past Chairman of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and past Chairman of the (now defunct) Community Fund for the Arts. His practice as a director at P&N concentrates on tax planning and compliance for a variety of businesses and individuals in a wide array of industries. He also has a certification in Business Valuation and has appeared as an expert witness in a number Federal and state courts throughout the South.
