Local Project Assistance Grants (PAG)

The Local Project Assistance Grant (PAG) supports arts programming that enhances the creative capacity and vibrancy of East Baton Rouge Parish. PAG is funded by the East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President and Metro Council and administered by Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.

Goals of the program:

  • To enhance the creative capacity and vibrancy of Baton Rouge

  • To develop larger and more diverse audiences for arts and cultural programs

  • To increase opportunities for local artists and/or provide local audiences with access to regional and national artists of note

  • To close gaps in access to the arts, especially for people with otherwise limited opportunities

  • To encourage new initiatives and enhance existing programming

Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge announces changes to Local Project Assistance Grants

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is pleased to announce the addition of a new component in its Local Project Assistance Grant. The Community & Diversity Fund will provide additional support for high impact community engagement within the City of Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish including but not limited to engagement activities or initiatives with populations whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics or disability. The applicant may apply for this additional funding within their Project Assistance Grant. Other changes in this grant program include raising the minimum request to $1,000 and maximum request to $10,000. The Community & Diversity Fund will be a set award amount of $2000, in addition to their awarded Project Assistance Grant. Download the full Press Release.

KEY DATES:

The 2019-2020 deadline for Project Assistance Grants will be April 15, 2019.

A PAG Grant Workshop will be held February 15th, 1-2:30pm at the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, 427 Laurel Street, 2nd floor.

FAQs

How do I apply? 
You can apply on our website here, and go to "Apply Now". You register on Award Force and you'll need to verify your email, and then you will be good to go to login and draft your application. 

Can I save my application and come back to work on it?
Yes, there is a button at the bottom of every page that says either "save and next" (which will bring you to the next tab) or "save and close". If you save and close, you may return to your application later, up until the deadline. 

What expenses are ineligible? 
Check the guidelines to make sure your expenses are eligible. 

What time is the deadline?
The deadline is April 15th at 5pm.

How do I put my budget info in?
There is a tab that is for the budget materials. At the top of that tab, there is a big heading that says "Download Budget template" in either doc or pdf.  At the bottom of that page there is a button to upload that document. 

How do I apply for the Community and Diversity Fund? 
There is an optional tab where you can input your information about the Community and Diversity Fund.  The Community & Diversity Fund will provide support for high impact engagement within the City of Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish. Your organization may apply for additional funds for Community & Diversity Funds ($2000) as an expansion to your proposed Project Assistance Grant project. The purpose of this funding is to provide support for high impact engagement including but not limited to engagement activities or initiatives with populations whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics or disability. Note: Do NOT include this funding in the budget template. List how the funds would be used in the narrative answer within the Community & Diversity Fund Narrative Form, and if awarded, we will request a revised budget.

What do I put when it asks for my total organization budget for the last completed year?
The total combined amount of organizational expenses for the last completed year, this gives us the size of your organizational budget. 

Do I really need letters of support from every partnership? 
Every significant partnership needs a letter of support (especially if the partner is involved financially and/or artistically). If it's a promotional partnership, it might not be necessary. 

Who do I put for project contributors?
The key individuals involved in the project - the project directors, significant artists. 

What format do you want for the List of applicant's current programming?
Whatever makes sense for your organization. It could be a season brochure, a list of activities, a gallery program guide, etc. 

How do I write a compelling narrative for my project? 
There's no one way but focus on being concise and clear when describing what the actual project is, and WHY you are compelled to do it.

Project Assistance Grantees are required to display the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge logo as well as the following credit statement:

Final Report: Submit your final report using the Final Report Form available for download. Submit completed form and all required attachments to mpearce@artsbr.org 45 days after the completion of your program.
