BATON ROUGE, La. June 14, 2016: The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge is proud to announce an extraordinary opportunity for young dancers ages 8-17 in our community. Dance Experience: NYC will provide exceptional dance training and education through two components: A series of one-week Dance Intensives, which are open to all levels of dancers, and the two-week Dance Residency, in which participants are selected by audition and will have the opportunity to delve into the creative and kinesthetic processes of the professional dance artists on the residency faculty.

This year’s Dance Experience faculty will include some of New York City’s most talented artists, including Amy Hall Garner and Darrell Grand Moultrie, both of whom are graduates of The Julliard School with accomplished professional careers that range from the concert stages of NYC to the stadiums brimming with Beyoncé fans. Also joining this dynamic team is Marshall Davis, Jr. – Assistant Choreographer for “Shuffle Along” on Broadway, which is currently nominated for 10 Tony Awards this year, including Choreography.

“This program will be an amazing way to connect young, aspiring dancers with professionals in the industry, specifically those who are working and thriving in New York City. This experience will provide a concentrated time of study with each professional, which will enhance the technical foundation of each young dancers and introduce them to multiple modes of creative process.” Said Mina Estrada, Director or Programming at the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge.
