Exploring Louisiana's culture through music, dance, and art.

Arts in Motion is an interactive, interdisciplinary program that brings live music, dance, and visual art together in a single improvised performance — giving students the opportunity to witness and experience creativity and collaboration in real time.

Each performance features 7–8 working artists who bring their craft directly into schools. But Arts in Motion goes beyond simply introducing students to different art forms. Through the dances, rhythms, and musical traditions that have shaped Louisiana's culture, students discover the living history of their own home — the second lines, the jazz, the zydeco, the blues, and the stories that have made this state unlike anywhere else in the world.

Throughout the school year, students across the region engage with this dynamic program that doesn't just teach art — it teaches Louisiana.

WHY IT MATTERS

Many students have never seen a professional artist at work — let alone seven or eight working together in real time. Arts in Motion changes that. It makes the creative process visible, exciting, and accessible for every student in the room.

"The music, dancers, live art, and audience participation kept everyone's attention and engagement. So many kids have been raving about it, teachers too."
