A 50-Year Retrospective Celebrating the Community that Built The Arts

The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge proudly announces the release of Why Not, a new book by writer and arts advocate Robin Palmer Blanche, honoring the first fifty years of the Arts Council and the generations of people who shaped it.

Created as both a celebration and a community time capsule, Why Not tells the story of the Arts Council through the voices of the artists, teachers, partners, visionaries, and volunteers who helped it grow. The book offers a rich retrospective of the organization’s evolution—its early beginnings, signature programs, public art initiatives, festivals, educational outreach, and the cultural milestones that helped define Baton Rouge’s creative identity.
