Iain McLean, ACGBR intern and artist

Sometimes the best artists are already in the room. Iain McLean has been part of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge family since 2022, joining us as an intern and growing into a valued member of our team, alongside his loyal studio companion, Pearl, who holds the unofficial (but very official) title of Director of Arfs and Culture.

Iain is also an ACGBR Artist Member, and his work has been a presence in our exhibition spaces over the years, shown across multiple shows and earning him sales along the way.

Most recently, Iain generously donated his mixed media piece Elementals to the Arts Council. It now hangs permanently in our hallway, and we could not be more grateful. The circular work is divided into four quadrants, each representing one of the classical elements: fire, earth, water, and wind. Painted in bold, expressive color, the piece feels both ancient and immediate. The four forces meet at the center in quiet tension, held together by the shape of the circle itself.
