Coming Soon: The Alvin Batiste Jazz Society of Greater Baton Rouge is becoming the Alvin Batiste Legacy Sessions coming this October. The Batiste Legacy Sessions’ mission is to promote an understanding of and enthusiasm for music across all genres, provide opportunities for listeners, students, and performers to hear and learn about the art form and its history.

This concert is the beginning of a new take on the previous Alvin Batiste Jazz Society, providing audiences opportunities for more genres. 

About Jeremy Davenport: Jeremy Davenport was born in St. Louis, Missouri into a family of musicians. His mother has been a music educator for nearly 50 years and his father worked for 40 years for the St. Louis Symphony. From a young age Davenport studied and played with members and guests of the St. Louis Symphony, which included an early introduction to Wynton Marsalis. He will be accompanied by Bill Grimes on bass and Troy Davis on drums.

About Leon Anderson: Leon Anderson is an American jazz drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana, US, who trained as a classical percussionist, and has worked with Marcus Roberts and Wynton Marsalis. He performs and tours internationally with Marsalis, Goines, Walter Payton and the Snapbean Band, and the Third Coast Jazz Quintet. He will be accompanied by Bill Grimes on bass and Jonathan Grimes on drums.
