The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, in partnership with the Louisiana Division of the Arts, invites session proposals for the 2025 Louisiana Arts Summit!
We are seeking dynamic, high-quality sessions from experts in the field that explore how the arts contribute to key areas of impact across Louisiana.
Session topics should align with one or more of the following themes:
Cultural Heritage: The arts safeguard and celebrate the unique traditions, languages, and histories of communities, ensuring they are passed down to future generations.
Economy: The arts drive local economies by supporting jobs, attracting tourism, and spurring small business development through creative industries and cultural events.
Education: Arts education enhances student engagement, boosts academic performance, and cultivates critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
Health and Wellness: Participating in the arts reduces stress, supports mental health, and encourages healing, especially through programs that engage vulnerable or underserved populations.
Social Cohesion: The arts bring people together across differences, encouraging dialogue, empathy, and a shared sense of community identity and belonging.This year’s Summit will be October 8th, 9th, and 10th, 2025

Louisiana Art & Science Museum
Housed in a historic railroad depot on the banks of the Mississippi River, the Louisiana Art & Science Museum offers educational entertainment for visitors of all ages. The art galleries showcase changing fine art exhibitions and selections from the permanent collection. In the interactive art and science galleries designed just for children, creative and enlightening fun comes in many forms. The Ancient Egypt Gallery houses ancient artifacts and a Ptolemaic-era mummy that rests in a re-created rock-cut tomb. The Irene W. Pennington Planetarium features sky shows, large-format films, visual music shows, and galleries devoted to space science.

Louisiana's Old State Capitol, a Gothic architectural treasure, stands high on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The 165-year-old statehouse has withstood war, fire, scandal, bitter debate, abandonment and an occasional fistfight. Today, the building stands as a testament to bold, inspired leadership and active citizenship.

Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Rodrigue’s death, this exhibition will open June 17th, 2023. This exhibit is the first of its kind and traces 45 years of the river in Rodrigue’s paintings, exploring the unique ways Rodrigue used the river as a reference to his Cajun heritage, and ultimately as a metaphor for the journey of life.
