Arts In Motion
The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge had the incredible opportunity to bring Arts in Motion to two local elementary schools: Magnolia Woods and Broadmoor Elementary. We shared the vibrant culture of Louisiana with over 350 young students.
Arts in Motion is more than just a performance. It’s an immersive, interactive experience where music, dance, and visual art come together in a powerful, spontaneous collaboration. Students witnessed a live, improvised show featuring some of Baton Rouge’s most talented artists:
Mike Esneault on piano
Ed Perkins on vocals
David Ellis on bass
Keith Simmoneaux on drums
Dancers Shamira Cummings and Jalan Lang
Visual artist Mike Weary, who created an abstract painting right before their eyes
All these art forms happened simultaneously, flowing and reacting to each other in real time, demonstrating the magic that happens when creativity is set in motion.
The energy in both schools was electric. Students were mesmerized by the seamless blending of sounds, movement, and colors. It was a vivid celebration of Louisiana’s rich cultural heritage and a live lesson in collaboration and artistic expression.
We’re grateful to East Baton Rouge Fine Arts for their support in making this special day possible.
